The venue is the “Schrottgalerie” in Glonn, an artists’ studio where concerts take place on a regular basis. This studio distinguishes itself from other venues owing to its creative and warm atmosphere. Outside you can marvel at works of art made of stone, appearing out of the dark only partly illuminated by candles. Inside, the open venue is adorned with a variety of different kinds of art. Between the wooden beams that connect both ends of the studio, in front of a white wall paintings are hanging, which are accentuated by a lot of little rays of light directed at them. In this creative and inspiring atmosphere we are going to record a concert among the closest friends, family and acquaintances. The ancient wood-burning oven is heating the initially rather cool air. Thus a cozy temperature and the crackling of the wood accompany our preparations for the show. The sound technician is laying many different cables and after checking the sound we are ready to go. The door opens to an increasing number of guests. I’m overhearing greetings, chit-chat, laughter, clicking glasses, the moving of chairs. Now they still can…
Vivid noise precedes vivid tranquility. All reminiscent of a birth(day) – maybe of a CD? We start playing our first song in this benevolent atmosphere and let ourselves be carried along through the evening, just as we always do. In a very relaxed way we managed to reflect our way of making music on an authentic recording. Something hardly known to anyone these days. Music captured the moment it was created, no overdubbing, no compromising during sound mixing. Mistakes and wonderful situations at the same time. To consider mistakes as a catalyst means opening doors to yet unknown rooms of creativity. This is one of the appealing aspects that is fascinating to us while making music. Another one is the musical communication. Are we supposed to provide blueprints and thus provide music with a new input, or should we rather interpret someone else’s idea? Either way, we open up our ears and listen and are amazed. A moving, joyful conversation without words. We do hope that this joy is reflected in our music and we relax and touch simultaneously.
