Herr Mannelig (V.Ö. 8.11.2024) by IRXN

With their new song “Herr Mannelig”, which comes from Nordic folklore, the Bavarian hard folk band IRXN has taken up the legend of the hero Herr Mannelig and a trolless and combined it with the legend of the witch “Frau Hitt” from the Karwendel mountains.

The result is a particularly exciting story that captivates the listener to the very end. While the troll tries to win over the young man with all kinds of temptations, he resists her and rejects her. Furious at this, the trolless turns to stone. This rock formation can still be recognized today in the Karwendel mountains as the mountain “Frau Hitt”. Themes such as love, beauty, as well as the idea of honor, bravery and temptation illustrate the conflicts between the human and supernatural worlds. IRXN transports the listener into this fantastic world of legends in richly illustrated verses, underlining the story with a bombastic musical arrangement that remains exciting and mystical to the very last note.
