Berlinale 2024
FARUK with the film music by Prof. Karim Sebastian Elias is awarded the FIPRESCI Jury Award for Best Film at Berlinale Panorama.
Karim Sebastian Elias, professor at the Babelsberg Film University and composer, composed the film music for FARUK by Asli Özge and recorded this music with a string quartet. The film was included by "tip Berlin" in the selection of 15 films that should be seen at the Berlinale and the composition also attracted the attention of Rolling Stone magazine, among others.
On the evening of February 23, the film was awarded the FIPRESCI Jury Award for Best Film at Berlinale Panorama! "What is new and different, wild, unconventional and courageous in today's cinema? In the Panorama you meet young, exciting talents from all over the world and discover the latest films by well-known filmmakers." Congratulations to the team.
The juries of the "Fédération Internationale de la Presse Cinématographique" (FIPRESCI), the international association of film critics, view films from the Competition program and in the Encounters, Panorama and Forum sections. One prize is awarded for the best film in each section. The 2024 jury members for the Panorama section were Joyce Yang, Ron Fogel and Barbara Lorey de Lacharriere.
